An Opera Written on Napkins (2012)
This is a recording of my debut solo show 'An Opera Written on Napkins'. This was recorded in July 2012 at The Comedy Box in Bristol, which is one of my favourite venues in the UK. The show won 'Best Show' at the Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival Awards that year and then went to the Edinburgh Fringe where two awesome people walked around with flags of my stupid face on their backs to get people to come to it.
Life, death, mistaken identity, recycling. All manner of things are covered.
It was recorded in very lo-tech (not the venue, the venue's brilliant), bootlegg conditions so feel free to have a listen by either streaming it from here or downloading it from Bandcamp. It won't cost you anything but if you do fancy paying a couple of quid for it then please only pay what you think it might be worth.
Hope you like it.
Running time: 61 minutes
CHRIS STOKES TELLS IT LIKE IT POSSIBLY COULD POTENTIALLY MIGHT BE (2013)
"Comedy is tragedy plus time, apparently. Chris Stokes sure has some tragedy, and its timing was far from perfect, but that he has brought this show together, and delivered it as superbly as he has, is testament to this real talent... It takes some flair to mix script, tangents, conversation, plays on words, heartbreak, and make it all look so effortless." - The Skinny
Honesty is a virtue and widely perceived to be the best policy. So why do so many people seem to use it as an excuse to be rude? Tired of being told it like it is? Come here!
This is a recording of my second solo stand-up/storytelling show 'Chris Stokes Tells It Like It Possibly Could Potentially Might Be'. It was recorded in August 2013 during an intimate performance at the Edinburgh Fringe in the swelteringly hot but magical venue of the Pleasance Attic.
While the sound quality is far better than the recording of my first release, the audience are alas not mic'd up. It's still a good show I think and happened at a very difficult time for me so could easily have been cancelled altogether.
I'm very glad it wasn't.
Hope you enjoy.
Running Time: 46 minutes.
